Dili Municipality Court (DMC), woman faces court after attacking husband with a fork.

According to the facts read by the Judge President, the accused (LF) went to visit her ill father in his village on October 10, 2015 and when she returned her brother told her that her husband (GL) had not been home since she left.

The accused questioned her husband when he returned home from work, but he refused to say anything.

As she was talking, the victim walked in to the room and began preparing to take a bath. The accused, who was holding a fork in her hand at the time, then threw her husband’s clothes on the ground.

When the victim attempted to talk to his wife she began stabbing at his back with the fork until he began to bleed.

The matter was later reported to police by a friend of her husband’s.

After the facts were read, the accused told the court that her husband had hid the fact he was having an affair from her and she had become angry when she found out the truth.

“He was having an affair behind my back, but he never told me [himself]. Other people told me about it, but I just wanted to hear it from him directly,” she said in court.

She said her husband had also provided no explanation about why he had not been at home for two weeks.

The victim admitted in court that he had been having an affair with another woman and promised not to cheat on his wife again.

“I did it, but I have stopped and I am back at her side again and she has accepted me,” he said.

He said the affair lasted just one month before he decided to return to his wife and she had forgiven him.

After hearing the declarations from both sides, the judge issued a warning to the accused and told her not to commit such an offence again.
