National Member of Parliament, MP Albina Marçal, urges the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communication (MOPTC) to add the Tutuala road to the list of priority roads to be rehabilitated in 2016.
The MP added that the Tutuala road is very important and needs to be fixed because the region has enormous tourism potential with many sites of interest for international tourists visiting Timor-Leste.
“For instance the road of Kairolu is very bad. It should be in the list of priority projects as well,” said MP Marçal at the National Parliament, in Dili.
She said also that in 2013-2015 the government had a road construction project from Mehara to Tutuala but it only covered Malahara.
“It did not get all the way to Tutuala, it was stopped in Malahara,” she questioned.
In response to this issue, MOPTC Minister Gastão de Sousa acknowledged the issue and said the government intends to fix the road in 2016.
“We intent to do this because it will support the tourism sector,” said Minister Sousa.
