MOFFE prepares future woman leaders

The Movement of Women Organization (MOFFE) is providing leadership training to young academic women to prepare them to become future leaders.

MOFFE Executive Director, Yasinta Lujina said, prepares future woman leaders.

 

MOFFE Executive Director, Yasinta Lujina, said her organization is preparing and providing training the training focusing on young women with potential.

“We need to prepare young women to become good future leaders,” said Lujina from her office, in Farol, Dili.

She added the training includes lessons in presentation, leadership and management, entrepreneurship, and in public speaking.

She said also that the training is very pertinent in particular ahead of the suku (village), municipal, and general elections for Timor-Leste scheduled for 2017 and will strengthen women’s participation.

“They already had an academic background so we need to support their development,” she said.

Meanwhile, member of the Timor-Leste Parliamentary Women’s Group (GMPTL) , Member of Parliament MP Jacinta Abu Cau Pereira, said some young women have been involved in politics but this participation needs to be improved because more good leaders will be needed in the future.

“They need to have political training so they can have a better understanding of politics. And politics is not about having weapons, it is about sharing ideas that will develop the country,” said MP Pereira.

She added that some political parties established political training centers for the youth and undertake leadership training as well.
