Harii Timor Foundation (FTH) offers a free call service for HIV/AIDS at-risk groups, the man-sex-man, sex workers and drug addicted, so these groups can get detailed information about HIV/AIDS prevention and management.
FTH Director Aguia Belo Ximenes said the free service is offered in particular to HIV/AIDS patients who are shy or afraid to come to the centre and so they can contact professionals at the centre who can share information and respond to their concerns.
“We are ready to provide clear information on HIV/AIDS and respond to their concerns,” said Ximenes said.
She added some pranksters are misusing the free call service and this is a concern that is being attended to.
The Head of Department of Contagious Diseases at the Ministry of Health, Merlita Monteiro said it is very important to continue providing the community with information about HIV/AIDS.
“It is quite difficult to detect the HIV/AIDS virus without a blood test though and getting a blood test is the only way to know for sure rather than guessing.”
