Members of National Parliament gave their appreciation to the fourth Women’s National Congress, which managed to create a new policy platform to support women in future development. 
Member of Parliament Florentina Smith said as a female representative in parliament she was proud of the new action platform, as it could contribute to development in the future.
“Through this good opportunity I would like to remind the Secretary of State for Parliamentary Issues that us women continue our participation in all areas,” said MP Smith in National Parliament.
She hoped that the action platform created by the 24 women’s organizations, including the Timorese Women’s Popular Organization (OPMT) and the Timorese Women’s Organization (OMT), could turn into policies for women in national development in the future.
The MP also recommended the National Parliament should think about how some of the State General Budget for 2014 could be allocated towards women’s programs.
Meanwhile, the Board President of the Women’s Network (Rede Feto) Ivete de Oilveira thanked the leaders of the nation who gave their strength and unity in the struggle from poverty and misery.
“Our respect for the heroines of OPMT, OMT as well as the female leaders who died,” Oliveira said.
She continued to ask for support from female veterans from the armed struggle for independence in bringing their friends from inequality and violence towards involvement in national development.
“Our respect and gratitude goes to the sovereign organs of the nation, the President of the Republic, the Parliament, the Court of Appeal and the government starting with the First Constitutional Government to the Fifth Constitutional Government, as they continue to listen to the voices of women,” said Oliveira.
On the other hand, the Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality Idelta Maria Rodrigues said many women were currently participating in national development.
“From the Fourth Constitutional Government to the Fifth Constitutional Government, the Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality has managed to achieve a lot of progress by participating in national development in the country,” said the Secretary of State.
She said there had been a lot of progress in the areas of justice and education.
