
The Public Function Commission (CFP) has identified 2,000 public officials who will reach retirement age in 2026.
The President of CFP, Agustinho Letêncio de Deus, said the public officials began submitting their retirement documents in 2024, and the commission has already started processing their retirement applications in 2025.
“As of now, the Public Function Commission (CFP) has registered 2,000 public officials who are set to retire in 2026,” he said.
He explained that these public officials come from various ministries, and their retirement will contribute to improving human resource management in public administration.
“We are currently discussing the reintegration process for retirees, but from January 2026, they will officially retire,” CFP President Letêncio confirmed.
Meanwhile, Minister of Justice, Sérgio de Jesus Fernandes da Costa Hornai, said that the ministry has already begun recruiting new public officials to replace those who are about to retire.
“We aim to reorganize and strengthen the state’s administrative workforce,” he stated.
He added for example that within the Ministry of Justice, prison guards have been ont eh job since 2002.
“We are now reviewing personnel restructuring and considering how to enhance their knowledge, skills, and competencies to align with administrative reforms and improve the quality of human resources,” Minister Hornai explained.He reaffirmed the Ministry of Justice’s commitment to strengthening human resources and ensuring that qualifications and competencies are prioritised to meet professional standards.
