National Hospital of Guido Valadares (HNGV) administrator Francisco Pereira do Rego says the hospital has established a center to provide information to communities.

The national hospital has established a center to provide information to communities.

The center will also hear complaints about the hospital and the health service.

Rego said the center would provide an outlet for complaints about poor service by health staff, allowing the health service an opportunity to solve the problems.

He said the center would be open 24 hours and would not only take complaints but would also provide information to community members about diseases, referrals and hospital equipment.

The center was established by the World Bank which will also supply technical support including training those who work in the center.

Deputy Minister for Supporting Management and Resource Issues Maria do Ceu Sarmento Pina da Costa said the establishment of the center was important as it gave all people an opportunity to receive information about health and have their complaints heard.

She said it was a positive step by HNGV to solve problems and deal with service issues at the hospital.

Ceu said the center would handle inquiries from everyone, not just from media outlets.

Community member Antonio Sales said the center was important but would be useless without a commitment by leaders to deal with the issues brought to the center.

“The center is very positive but the important thing is to solve the problems within the institution (and for staff to) serve the people and love their profession,” he said.
