The General Commander of the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) will buy more communication radios for police members in 2014.
The PNTL logistics chief Superintendent Basilio de Jesus said the funds for the project will be provided by the Ministry of Defense and Security (MDS).
“Therefore, we intend to buy more communication radios in 2014,” Superintendent de Jesus said at Caicoli.
However he said prior to this, the PNTL General Commander would make a proposal to MDS.
“Only MDS can correspond to this proposal,” he said.
Member of Commission B (security, defense and foreign affairs) Member of Parliament Ana Ribeiro, agreed with this plan but said to ensure the radios purchased were of good quality.
“Last year we bought radios and this year we will buy more, but the radios (we bought last year) are not good quality,” she said.
She urged the government and PNTL to verify which radios were better suited.
