The Ministry of State Administration (MAE), has partnered with Timor Telecom (TT) to install internet in district and sub-district administrations.
Minister for State Administration Jorge da Conceção Teme said internet facilities in the district and sub-district administrations had not been working and needed to be fixed.
“Our district and sub-district administrators don’t really know how to use the computer or operate the internet,” Minister Teme said at National Parliament.
“We have entered a contract with a company that can control the things don’t function in districts and sub-districts,” Minister Teme said.
Member of Parliament (MP) Cesar Valente said some sub-district administrators were organized but some unorganized.
“We see that transportation is not used properly,” MP de Jesus said.
He said security in the districts was not adequate which was why the administrators used the transportation according to their will.
MP Agostino Lay also raised concerns about the lack of internet facilities.
“Internet isn’t now installed so they cannot have access to information,” Lay said.
He suggested the MAE reactivate internet to the districts and sub-districts administration for facilitating their work.
