A man has appeared in court for hitting his wife after she questioned why she hadn’t received any money from his wages.

According to the facts read by the Presiding Judge, the victim (OM) had not received any money from her husband (JL) for about two months and when she asked for money her husband always told her he hadn’t been to the bank yet.
However, when the victim went to his workplace and his colleagues told her husband always borrowed money off them.
When the victim later questioned her husband he refused to provide an explanation and began hitting her in the back before pushing her to the ground.
After the facts of the cases were read, the accused told the court that he was using his salary to repay a debt after borrowing money off friends to play cards.
“I did not want to tell her (his wife) because I was afraid that she would get angry,” he said.
He claimed he only slashed out at his wife after she threw a glass at him.
He told the court he was sorry for what he had done and promised not to commit such offence again in the future.
The Public defender called for a lighter sentence as the accused was remorseful for his actions and his wife had thrown a glass at him first.
After hearing the declaration from him, the President Judge decided to give the accused a suspended sentence.
