
The Vice President of Commission A (for constitutional, justice, public administration, local authority, and anti-corruption affairs) Member of Parliament MP Arão Noe de Jesus Amaral said six draft laws are currently with the commission for analysis.

He added the six draft laws include the drug trafficking law, the amnesty law, the electoral registration law, the private advocacy law, the suku election law and the human trafficking law.
“I requested some flexibility with the way we will schedule the audiences and the discussion so that we can proceed quicker,” said MP Noe at the plenary of the National Parliament, in Dili.
He suggested the plenary to be held on a Sunday and then discuss it on Tuesday and Thursday given that on Fridays MPs to to the municipalities on monitoring visits.
He said also that his commission will conduct audiences for priorities laws including the electoral registration law in preparation for the elections in 2017 and the suku election law in preparation for elections in 2016.
Meanwhile, the Vice President of the Women Parliamentarians Groups (GMPTL) MP Albina Marçal said for her group, the human trafficking draft law is a priority given the seriousness of the issue.
She added he group has discussed the draft law with women’s organisations who made several recommendations to the draft.
“We need to look at which ones are most important,” she said also.
Meanwhile Secretariat of State for Administration of Elections STAE representative Aquilino Manuel Branco said the system for overseas registration of voters is ready but it is currently pending the electoral registration law to pass in the parliament.
“I hope the law will be approved and then promulgated soon so that we have clarity over how we will undertake the registration,” he said.
