Member of the National Parliament MP Virgilio Hornai da Costa appealed to the youth to form groups to be able to participate in the economy and apply to get support from the government.

The MP said the problem is that many youths are jobless after completing their secondary education, in particular those who do not continue on to study at university.
“Groups can be set up to raise animals or for farming,” added MP da Costa at the National Parliament, in Dili.
The MP said this would empower the youth to contribute to the national economic.
The General Secretary of the National Commission for Timorese Youth (NCTY) Manecas Lobo dos Santos said the NCTY in cooperation with the Secretariat of State for Vocational Training Policy and Employment (SEPFOPE)offers training to youth in three municipalities across the country.
“I think the youth should grab the opportunity and take part in the training offered by SEPFOPE across the municipalities,” said the NCTY secretary.
NCTY SG Manecas urged rural youth in particular to attend vocational training offered by the government so they have added skills that will allow them to be competitive in the job market.
