
The Clinical Director of the National Police Force (PNTL) Chief Inspector Abilio Gonçalves said mobile treatment units for PNTL personally in the 12 municipalities are not operational due the limitation of medicines.

Chief Inspector Gonçalves said mobile treatment for PNTL personnel at the grassroots levels is needed to keep units healthy and performing adequately their duties.
“We are not providing those health services but in the meantime personnel goes to the clinics where medicines are available,” said Clinical Director Chief Inspector Gonçalves in Kaikoli, Dili.
He added the concerns have been reported to the general command of PNTL and it’s being processed.
The PNTL Clinical Director urged doctor from the national clinics to travel to the grassroots level to monitor the work of municipal based doctors assigned to 12 the municipalities.
“Observe how they share information on communicable diseases to police members and to local communities,” he said also.
President of Commission F (for education, health, culture, gender equality and veteran affairs) Member of Parliament Virgilio da Costa Hornai said medical service to police officers is essential particularly those who work in the border areas.
He urged the disbursement of medicines to be hastened so PNTL clinics can be adequately stocked.
“We need to look after the health of police officers at the grassroots level so that if there are health concerns or emergencies officers can be treated immediately,” said MP Hornai.
