Member of Parliament (MP) Inacio Moreira has called on the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) to fix Aileu’s Likidoe road.

The member of Commission E (infrastructure, transport and communications) said the damaged to the road which should connect Likidoe village to Dili prevented Likidoe residents from taking their local products to the capital for sale.
He said the issue had been raised by MPs in Parliament before but no action had been taken.
“The government keeps ignoring this,” he said.
He said the poor condition of the road made it impossible for Likidoe residents to compete commercially.
“We always say our local products have value in the market but we don’t create conditions which allow them to compete,” he said.
Secretary of State for Public Works Luis Vas Rodrigues said MOP had been allocated money to maintain rural roads.
The Likidoe road was a priority project, he said.
Rodrigues said the Australian Government had also offered money through its aid program to help fix rural roads.
