A Liquisa woman accused of assaulting her lover’s wife has received an administrative sentence from the Dili District Court.

The Dili District Court.

The victim, known in court as MM, told the court she had been with her husband AB for 12 years when he began an affair with the defendant, LL.

MM said in court that her relationship with her husband, with whom she has one daughter and three sons, began to deteriorate in 2012.

“When he would get home, I would always get hit,” she said.

“Everything I did was wrong but I was patient until one day when I was told by my sister that my husband was having an affair.”

MM said she initially did not believe her sister’s claim.

This changed, she said, when her husband told her he was leaving early for work and would not tell her why.

When she visited the market later that day, MM saw AB and LL together going to the hospital.

“I was curious then and when he came home, I asked about her and he said she was his friend,” MM told the court.

When her husband had fallen asleep, MM checked AB’s messages and found a romantic message from LL, who she arranged to meet.

MM told the court when the pair met, LL pulled her hand until she fell to the ground.

LL said she was not aware her lover of two months had a wife and family.

“I broke up with him immediately after the fight and we have no relationship now,” she said.

Judge Duarte Tilman gave LL an administrative sentence as she was found to have started the brawl.
