Member of Parliament Manuel Salsinha has criticized the poor condition of the national road which stretches from Ailo Lalang village to Fatuberlico in Ainaro district.
Deputy Salsinha said the damaged road prevented Ailo Lalang villagers from reaching Dili to sell their products.
He said repairs had not yet begun despite the Public Works minister’s assurances a company had been contracted to carry out the work
He called on the minister to send technicians to evaluate what work must be done to fix the road. In response, the minister said a design was being drawn up for road repairs.
Resident Agusto Pereira said the road was dusty in dry season and the condition worsened during the wet.
Motorists were frightened to use the road, he said.
