Tibar’s school does not have enough classrooms, according to Commission F President Member of Parliament (MP) Virgilio da Costa Hornai.

Commission F president MP Virgilio da Costa Hornai says Tibar primary school does not have enough classrooms.

He said the classroom shortage was identified when Commission F (education, health, culture, veterans’ affairs and gender equality) conducted a monitoring project in Tibar.

MP Hornai said 90 students were crammed into a single classroom.

He called on the Ministry of Education to create classroom conditions which were more conducive to learning.

Education Minister Bendito Freitas said $25 million had been allocated to the ministry in the 2014 federal budget to rehabilitate schools.

MP Freitas said 341 schools would be rehabilitated.

He said discussions were being held with the National Development Agency to decide how best to implement the policy.
