Member of National Parliament (MP) Anastasia da Costa Amaral has raised concerns about the progress of the Taroman bridge construction project.
The bridge, in the Covalima sub-district, has been under construction for two years but no significant progress has been made.
The Member of Commission E (infrastructure, transport and communication) said the budget for the project was large but progress still was not being made.
MP Amaral said Parliament did not know how far along in construction the bridge was and added the company undertaking the project did not seem to be taking its responsibilities seriously.
She said the bridge was very important for the members of the communities of Suai district who are forced to use other routes for travel.
Minister of Public Works (MOP) Gastao de Sousa said the project was progressing and the
hip between the ministry and the company responsible for the project was good.
“The project is underway; now (progress) has reached 62%,” Minister Sousa said.
