The Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL) clinic blood laboratory is not functional as it is short-staffed.
PNTL clinic chief Inspector Abilio de Araujo said while the laboratory was fully equipped, the blood laboratory doctor is away studying in Kediri, Indonesia.
“This year he will complete his study and when he comes back the laboratory will be functioning again,” Inspector de Araujo said in Kaikoli, Dili.
He said at present when PNTL members require blood testing, samples are sent to the National Hospital of Guido Valadares (HGNV).
“They give us the test results and then get the prescription,” he said.
Member of Parliament (MP) Inacio Moreira said human resources were very important and the government should look into this matter.
“We hope that they can prepare the plan properly and prepare people to work in the laboratory,” he said.
He said sending the employee away to study was a good step as when he returned, the laboratory would function.
