The National Timor-Leste Police (PNTL) has received six cars from the Timor-Leste Police Development Program (TLPDP), in order to facilitate the PNTL to carry out their duties more efficiently.
PNTL General Commander, Commissioner Longuinhos Monteiro, said these cars will be used for traffic accident assistance.
“We are often hoping for the ambulance wagon which is in use at the same time attending the same incident,” Commissioner Monteiro said, in Kaikoli, Dili.
He said the cars would park at the police station in order to be able to respond immediately to any accidents.
“Our service will be faster and we are ready to attend any accident,” he said.
Member of Commission B (for security, defense and foreign affairs) MP Cesar Valente de Jesus said the TLPDP provided PNTL with good support.
“The PNTL has had difficulties with facilities such as cars, therefore these cars given to the PNTL have helped out,” said MP de Jesus.
For that reason, he urged the PNTL to use those cars properly and maintain them regularly so the cars would last a long time.
