Three police officers from the Criminal Investigation Service will take part in the mission to establish peace in Guinea Bissau.
General Commander of the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL), Commissioner Longuinhos Monteiro said it was time for the PNTL to give their contribution to other nations, including Guinea Bissau.
“For 12 years people have helped with our development but it’s time for us to walk on our own feet, and if other nations need our help, we’re ready to help them,” Commissioner Monteiro said.
He said the three police officers would be ambassadors for the PNTL.
“Last year there were two members who went for two years and one month to give their contribution, and now we’ve delegated for another three to go.”
Commissioner Monteiro said they would go to Guinea Bissau for one year and one month.
“I ask the three of you to show your good behaviour and discipline while conducting your duties over there,” he said.
At the same place,Chief Sergeant Virginia de Souza from the Criminal Investigation Service said she was happy to get the opportunity to contribute to other nations.
“I am really happy to get this trust, and I will show that my work is good,” she said.
Meanwhile Member of Parliament Albina Marcal said this was a big privilege for the PNTL, so they could contribute to other nations in need.
