Red Cross Timor-Leste (CVTL) has allocated $90,894 to remote communities in Sinhei, Ermera municipality, to install communal water pump stations.

As part of the project, CVTL President Jose Pereira da Conceição said $8,500 will be used to raise awareness about health and disease prevention among communities.
He said improving clean water access and other health measures could help prevent the spread of diseases such as diarrhea and malaria.
The Japanese government provided a total of $266,435 through the Security Human Fund Assistance to communities in rural areas, to be shared among PRADET, CVTL and FUNDEF.
Japanese Ambassador Eiji Yamamoto said he hoped that the projects would run smoothly and help improve people’s quality of life, particularly in rural areas.
“We are working together on how to support and help communities,” said Yamamoto.
He added the Japanese government was committed to strengthening communities in Timor-Leste and helping to improve people’s daily life.
“I am waiting to hear about the good results of the implementation of the projects,” said Yamamoto.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament MP Albina Marçal said even though Timor-Leste is a sovereign country, it always welcomed support provided by other countries.
“We still lack many things and it is really helpful,” said Marçal.
