National Member of Parliament MP Cesar Valente has accused some ministers of hunting buffalo belonging to communities in Gisusuku(village), Liquisa municipality.

He said that between January and February 2016, six buffaloes were killed by ministers and members of the police force.
“I disagree with it, a leader does not intimidate the communities by hunting communities’ animals,” said Valente.
He said political leaders should set a good example for people by not breaking the laws.
“They are breaking the laws and we need to investigate it,” he said.
He said if the matter continued to be ignored, people would lose faith in their leaders, adding that it would also impact on the implementation of laws across the country.
Member of Parliament MP EladioFaculto called for an investigation into the matter to identify the perpetrators.
He said MPs were abusing their position and increasing the hardship of local communities.
In response to concerns raised about the issue, the Parliamentary Secretary of State, Maria TeresinhaViegas, pledged to discuss the matter with the Timorese Council of Ministers.
