The Dili Municipality Court (TMD) heard the case of BS, the accused, for hitting landlord TR, the victim, over a dispute involving a rented room.

According to the accusation from the Ministry of Public Prosecutions read by the Presiding Judge, the incident took place on 14 February 2015 after the victim’s daughter went to the accused to ask for the rent money which was four months in arrears, for which she got no answer.
At 5p.m. that same day, the victim TR went to the accused BS room and knocked on the door at which point the accused opened the door angrily, hurling insults at TR and chocking him until he fell down.
Then the accused left the house, returning at 4a.m. with friends to collect his belongings and leaving without making payments.
Not happy, the victim TR reported the incident to the police PNTL.
After reading the accusation the judge asked both the victim and accused to decided whether to reconcile or take the case to trial. The victim TR said would rather reconcile with the accused BS.
“Let us reconcile,” said the victim at the court.
The Presiding Judge ordered the accused to pay the four months rent in arrears.
“I am ready to pay as I have the money now,” said the accused at the court.
The President of the Court told victims BS never to repeat such actions.
