Members of the Youth Parliament have complained that they do not receive sufficient funding from the State Secretariat for Youth and Sport (SEJD) to carry out their programs in the districts.

Youth Parliament member Aurea Isaura Laura dos Santos Cancio said the activities in her district aimed at helping unemployed or undereducated young people were done without SEJD support.
She called on SEJD to provide the necessary funds to support their activities in rural areas.
Many young people wished to continue their studies unto university but lacked the financial needs to do so, she said.
Member of Parliament Eladio Faculto said SEJD must help the youth parliamentarians to do their work.
“I call on SEJD to solve the problem of the Youth Parliament,” he said.
National Youth Council President Leovigildo Hornai said Youth Parliament needed to find ways around its budgetary constraints.
“Youth parliament doesn’t have its own budget but they can organize activities within government organizations such as doing research, advocacy or holding conferences,” he said.
Secretary of State Miguel Marques Manetelo said Youth Parliament did receive money for particular activities.
“(The funding) is not for personal use,” he said.
