Members of Parliament (MPs) have expressed concern about the District Development Project II abandoning infrastructure projects.

MP Cesar Valente de Jesus said projects in Duyung in the village of Benunu in Metinaro had been abandoned for three years.
The Ministry of State Administration (MAE) must compel the construction company awarded the tender to complete the project, as the government had paid the company 80 per cent of the agreed price.
“I call on MAE to take responsibility for the canal project in Benunu, Metinaro which began in 2011 but has been stopped,” he said.
He did not name the company involved but said it was a local contractor.
MP Deputy Josefa Alvares Pereira Soares said the rehabiliatation of the Baucau market threatened to destroy an important cultural site.
She called for administrators to work with the relevant ministries to run the projects.
“I give as an example the rehabilitation of the market is destroying our characteristic architecture which should be protected,” she said.
State Secretary for Local Development Samuel Mendonca said that the company which was charged with undertaking the water canal project has been instructed to take responsibility.
“A very short time ago I went there to see and I have given them an ultimatum that at the end of this month it will be solved and there will be no doubt in 2015,” he said.
No new projects would be started in 2014 until current projects were complete, he said.
