A dispute over a house led a person to threaten to kill their sibling with a machete, the Dili District has heard.

The accusation by the Public Ministry, as read by Judge President Antonio Gonsalves, stated that in May 2013, a woman known in court as MB asked her sibling, known as AS, to leave the house MB owned to make way for MB’s child.
AS, who had been living in the house for an extended period as MB was living in a village, said they had the right to remain in the house.
MB fetched her husband to speak with MB but when she returned, her sibling chased her with a machete and threatened to kill her.
MB then filed a police report about the incident.
After being called on by Judge Gonsalves to speak, AS told the court that they had been living in the house for two years before MB chased the person “like an animal”.
“I would not accept that and I was annoyed, so I chased her with a machete,” AS said.
MB said she held the deeds to the home but still her sibling would not leave.
Judge Gonsalves ruled in favor of MB and ordered her sibling to leave the house without incident.
