National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) plans to purchase 13.500 new uniformsthis year.
PNTL General Command chief logistical officer Superintendent Basilio de Jesus said the Secretary of State for Security (SES) has reached an agreement with a company in order to provide good quality uniforms.
“The uniform’s color is based on PNTL’s attributes and what the PNTL wanted,” Superintendent de Jesus said in Kaikoli, Dili.
Those uniforms were divided into two categories, he said; PDH and PDL uniforms.
PDH uniforms will be worn Monday to Thursday while the PDH uniforms will be worn during operations.
He said 7000 new PDL uniforms will be purchased and 6.500 PDH uniforms. For the PDL uniform he said will purchase 7.000 sheets and PDH 6.500 sheets while the total budget is more than $1 million.
MP Anna Ribeiro recognized that the National Parliament had approved the budget to purchase new uniforms for the PNTL.
“But the government and the National Police must choose a good company so that it can provide quality uniforms,” MP Ribeiro said.
She said it was important to select a reputable company as some companies want money but deliver poor quality goods.
