Op-Ed Guidelines for The Dili Weekly
We are always looking for interesting, topical, and well argued op-ed’s. If you would like to submit an article for consideration by The Dili Weekly for publishing on our Op-Ed page there are a few things you should be aware of. We prefer the article be original and exclusive to the newspaper but if you have already published it elsewhere and it is that good we might publish it too. Your op-ed should constitute an ‘interesting’ read and contain a strong argument about a topical issue in or related to Timor-Leste. Your Op-Ed should not be a letter to the Editor, that is, a response to an article you may have read in The Dili Weekly. We publish letters to the editor on our Editorial Page.
Your Op-Ed should be less than 1,500 words and it MUST be in English and Tetun given we are a bi-lingual newspaper and we do not take responsibility for content we do not write ourselves. Avoid using English or Tetun jargon. Our internet is slow so rather than sending us an attachment we prefer your article submitted as the body of an email. Make sure to include your name as you want it to appear on your Op-Ed. Send us your contact details too for our files.
We will contact authors if we read an article that we want to publish as soon as possible. We get a large volume of submissions weekly so we reserve the right to publish or not an Op-Ed we receive. If you don’t hear back from us within the week feel free to offer your article elsewhere for publication.
All Op-Ed’s can be submitted to info@thediliweekly.com
