A man has been accused of hitting and stomping on his friend after he refused to give him money.

According to the prosecution facts read in court by the presiding judge, the victim (VP) was asleep in his bedroom when the defendant (JL) returned home from work on July 12, 2015 and asked to borrow money to play cards with his friends.
When his friend didn’t answer, the defendant kicked the door and asked “Did you hear me? I’ve been calling since I arrived”. The victim then replied that he had been sleeping and didn’t have any money.
A few minutes later, the defendant entered the victim’s room to again ask for money, but the victim continued to refuse. The defendant then punched the victim in the back, forcing him to fall to the ground and trampled on his feet, causing him to be absent from school for a week.
The defendant declined to add anything after the allegations were read.
However, the victim, who works at the Commission for Public Service, told the court that he had since forgiven the defendant for his actions.
“I have forgiven my brother even though we don’t live together now,” he said.
After hearing the declaration from the victim, the court applied for a one-year suspended sentence for the defendant.
