Dili Municipality Court (DMC) heard the case of accused IP for hitting victim MF over a man.
According to the accusation by the Ministry of Public Prosecutions read by the Presiding Judge, on a night at 7p.m.the victim MF was in her room when the accused and her sister knocked on her door. After she opened the door, accused IP proceeded to slap her and pull her hair until she fell down.
The victim’s friends broke up the fight but overheard the accuse accusing the victim of having an affair with her boyfriend.
The victim remained silent because as far as she knew, the man was not in a relationship when she got involved with him.
The victim’s friends reported the case to the police.
After reading the accusation, the presiding judge asked the accused and the victim whether they would prefer to try reconciliation or whether they would prefer to continue with the trial.
Both replied they would prefer to try reconciliation because the victim was not longer involved with the accused’s boyfriend.
“Let us reconcile and from now on we can be friends,” said the victim at the court.
After hearing the declaration from the victim the judge decided to allow them to reconcile.
