Member of Parliament Josefa Alvares Soares has demanded answers from the Ministry of Agriculture over Maubisse’s abandoned Community Agricultural Development Center.
The Member of Commission E (development and economy) said the center was unused as the government did not first conduct a viability study to gauge its sustainability.
She said other facilities built by the Ministry of Agriculture in other districts were also unused.
Agriculture and Fisheries minister Mariano Asanami Sabino denied that the center was abandoned.
He said the center was being successfully operated by a private company.
“We don’t have the funds to maintain centers so after we build a center, we work with the private sector,” he said.
