A Member of National Parliament questioned the clean water canalization project in Illiomar sub-district in Lautem district, as the company in charge of the project has abandoned the works.

Member of Parliament Angelica da Costa said the canalization started four months ago but now it’s stopped, therefore she called on the government to ask the responsible company about it.
“The government should have proper control so we can have quality work, not do it so badly that after a month it needs to be done again,” MP da Costa said in National Parliament.
On the other hand, Illiomar resident Jose Sarmento said the clean water was ready but the work lacked quality.
“The pipes are broken again and the water doesn’t run almost once a week,” Sarmento said.
He said the community had difficulty with access to clean water, that’s why he asked the company in charge of the project to take responsibility so the water would run again.
In response to this concern, the Minister of Public Works Gastao de Sousa said this was a concern because the company in charge was following their capacity.
“But it’s true that when the companies finishes, they should also control the work well and the government should make an effort to control the systems,” said Minister de Sousa.
He said MOP would pay attention to the issue.
“We will look and will resolve the matter.”
