A school lunch program in Viqueque municipality has resumed again after a three-month break due to a budget delay.

National Director of Education for Viqueque municipality Emilio Amaral said the program restarted on April 1.
He confirmed the program was interrupted due to budgetary reasons.
“But it is now working again,” he said by phone.
The aim of the program is to provide a daily meal to students so that they can concentrate on the learning process throughout the day, particularly those who live a long distance from school and often go without breakfast in the morning.
Amaral said the program had been implemented in 18 central public basic schools and 78 basic schools.
Minister of Education Antonio da Conceição said the budget for the program varied and depended on the number of students at each school.
“Every student receives 25 cents and it depends on the number of students,” he said.
He added the program was running in both public and private basic schools.
