There are calls for the government to install CCTV cameras at the four municipality courts in order to maintain security at these places.

Member of National Parliament MP Albina Marçal said it was important CCTV was set up in courts to record anything suspicious or unusual during trials.
“Unexpected circumstances can happen at trials, [so] that is why we need to set up CCTV,” said Marçal at the National Parliament.
The Director Judicial System Monitoring Program (JSMP), Luis Oliveira Sampaio, said the organization had had concerns about the issue for the past two years.
So far cameras have only been installed at Baucau and Dili Municipality Courts.
“In Dili municipality court, we have the device for detecting the people who come in and out and it is good,” Sampaio said.
Resident Manuel Sarmento also wants to see CCTV installed in the courts.
“CCTV is very important and we should also have a metal detector,” he said.
