A man has been found guilty of assault after he beat his neighbor unconscious because he suspected the woman had used “black magic” to cause his daughter to have an asthma attack.
The accused, known in court as AR, was ordered by the court to pay a fine as restitution to his victim, known as MB.
The Ministry of Public alleged AR attacked MB after AR’s daughter had an episode following a day spent playing at the home of the victim.
AR admitted attacking MB after he was told of his daughter’s asthma attack by his wife.
“I was angry and went immediately to the victim’s house to attack her,” he said.
He said he suspected MB was at fault because his daughter was in good health and had never previously had an asthma attack.
The victim said she played no part in AR’s daughter’s illness.
“She just played with me until the afternoon when she went back home,” she said.
