
Dili’s Municipal Court (DMC) heard a domestic violence case involving TR as the accused for hitting BC as the victim.

According to the accusation from the Public Ministry read by DMC’s Presiding Judge, BC asked TR if she could take her children to her village. TR she could only take two of the children while the other two would have stay with him. BC and TR got into an argument because BC did not believe TR would be able to look after the two children that would star behind.
During the argument that ensued TR pusher BC and forbade her from going to her village with her children at which point she shouted back at him. TR then slapped and hit her on her back.
After the accusation was read the judge asked with TR would like to say anything.
“I did not mind her going to the village but I just did not want her to take all the children, only some of them. But she is very stubborn,” said TR.
Both TR and BC have made up and still living together since the incident.
TR added he regrets his actions towards BC and that he would not repeat them in future.
After hearing the accused’s statement the presiding judge gave TR a suspended sentence of one year and he is required to report to the police weekly.
