MP Faculto: planting trees in the rainy reason makes more sense than in the dry season

Member of the National Parliament MP Eladio Faculto urged the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Environment (MCIA) to plant trees and plants during the rainy season and not in the dry season or else the trees will perish.

MP Faculto said also that plants are perishing dues to poor care.

“It’s not good to grow the plants in the dry season,” said MP Faculto.

He urges the government to establish adequate policies on how to planting trees so that there is less wastage of public funds.

“It is a waste of money because every year we are allocating money for preserving the environment,” he said. 

In response to the concern, the Deputy Prime Minister of Commerce, Industry and Environment (MCIE), Filipus Nino Pereira said some plants are best planted in the dry season but added the government need to look carefully at the cultivation system. 

“We need to water the plants after cultivation for them to grow,” said Vice Minister Pereira.

He also acknowledged the lack of control on the part of the government.

“There is a specific line of funds to support the planting of plants so there is where the responsibility rests.”

The Vice Minister said he would look at making improvements to the system of government responsible for trees and plants cultivation and management.
