Member of Parliament Miranda Branco says she is proud of the National Police of Timor-Leste for its recent bust of three people who were attempting to import drugs into the nation.

The trio were caught with 1.5 kilograms of crystal meth (known locally as sabu-sabu) in Audian in September.
The president of the Parliamentary Group for Anti-Corruption (GOPAC) said the drug traffickers were caught as a result of the work of PNTL members.
She said she was concerned about drug traffickers using Timor-Leste as a transit hub for illicit substances.
Criminal Investigation Service (SIK) director Superintendent Lugerio Madeira Lay the drug traffickers were foreign.
The joint operation to catch the traffickers involved the Dili District Command, SIK and local authorities.
Mascarenhas village head Mateus de Jesus praised police for seizing the drugs.
“I am proud of police’s efforts because drugs can cause big problems in households,” he said.
